Only complete applications, with all enclosures, will be reviewed.  Application packages must include the following:

  • Three letters of reference, including phone numbers. At least two must be ‘professional references’ (employer, supervisor, teacher, etc.) and one of these may be from a volunteer agency, organization or group to which you belong. The third letter may be from a long term friend, minister, neighbour, etc, but not an immediate family member. Reference letters should be addressed to the GVPVS Program Coordinators.
  • To assist with your application, references should highlight your:
  1. ability to deal with stressful and/or crisis situations
  2. interpersonal communication skills level
  3. decision making abilities and skills
  4. general personality and attributes that would be an asset for Victim Services work
  5. willingness to take direction and supervision
  6. ability to think on your feet
  7. values that you act on
  • Completed copy of the “Availability Form” (Application Form, Page 2)
  • Completed and signed copy of the Consent to a Police Record Check and a Building Access Clearance document (Application Form, Page 4)
  • A copy of your most recent resume

Shortlisted applicants will be contacted to arrange for an interview with the Program Coordinators. After the interview, those selected will be required to have a Police Record Check done.  Given a clear Police Record Check, you will then be asked to submit to a Building Access Clearance by the Victoria Police Department.  More information about this will be provided by the interviewer.  Or you may visit the Victoria Police website

A valid Class 5 B.C. drivers license is required.  Driving records are included as part of the Police Record Check.
